It’s always a pleasure to photograph beautiful models in our studio, but even more fulfilling when our work contributes directly to their success. This was the case recently, when lovely Michelle Laas became the first South African finalist for the 2013 Face of the Globe competition, and then went on to be crowned 2nd Princess Teen Face of the Globe and Winner Teen Face of the Globe South Africa 2013. CONGRATS Michelle, we’re so proud of you!
The initial selection phase relied on photographs supplied, which she submitted from a previous modeling portfolio that we created for her. We had great fun again this time with various outfits and poses, including this funky vest that Michelle brought along because the grand finals of the competition took place in London and at Disneyland France:
Since meeting her in May last year, it has been fabulous to witness how Michelle has developed her modeling talent, with the help of Figures Models Randburg, to whom I’ve referred a number of people. This is not only because of their excellent training, but also for the wonderful way in which Merlene and her team care about their students. In line with this, a group of them participated in the annual IMTA convention in New York in July, adding more outstanding results to those they achieved last year.
For any of you wanting to explore modeling, I highly recommend that you consider top quality training. This can assist in so many ways, from honing specific skills in various genres such as photographic vs ramp, personal grooming, inner and outer confidence, and posture, among other things. It also provides valuable moral support and greater insight into the way the industry works, which helps to shield young people from unrealistic expectations, not to mention guiding them in the case of potential modeling contracts.
Here’s another image from Michelle’s latest studio shoot, highlighting how beautifully she is growing up:

Well done again, Michelle. You flew our South African flag high!
