OV&P Team Shooting at Cloud Nine in Sedgefield

Shooting in Paradise

Have you been to Knysna – jewel of the spectacular Garden Route here in South Africa? If not, allow us to introduce you to a taste of the magic that’s in store for you when you do! We had an exceptional experience shooting a special portfolio of images and videos for Visit Knysna, to help promote tourism to this enchanting region, which is a paradise for bird enthusiasts.

From Fynbos, estuary and riverine to montane and coastal environments, each setting offers a unique glimpse into the avian world, and a host of activities for nature lovers. You can explore hiking trails through ancient forests, paddle along serene waterways, go golfing, cycling, surfing, boating or whale watching, relax on the beach or simply bask in the beauty of this natural wonderland.

It was a treat for our team to create this captivating video, which we hope you enjoy as much as we enjoyed creating it:

Our second video shares a delicious array of culinary delights in and around Knysna, including inviting restaurants and coffee shops to suit all sorts of tastes, local markets, as well as beer and gin distilleries, amongst breath-taking views and laid back settings:

You’ll see that we’ve combined awesome aerial perspectives with inspired ground-based filming and editing to showcase enticing places and experiences that convey the essence of Knysna and surrounds. Special shoutout and thanks to all the wonderful people who feature in these videos, starting with Mark Dixon in the birding video, who is a highly experienced and knowledgable local guide.

Go to www.gardenroutetrail.co.za to book a tour with him and browse www.visitknysna.co.za to find out more about this beautiful part of the world and all that it offers. Then contact us if you have a destination, venue or adventure business to promote. We’d love to help you achieve this with compelling photography and videography that contributes tangibly to your success!

Welcoming 2024

Happy New Year to you and yours! As we wave goodbye to 2023 and embrace the promise of 2024 there’s a buzz in the air – a sense of vibrant possibilities and new adventures waiting to be captured. May it be a brilliant year for us all.

At Outdoor Video & Photographic, we’re reflecting with gratitude on the exciting journey of 2023. It was a whirlwind of creativity, technical advancement and lots of photo and video shoots, including ground based and aerial, in our studio and on location.

Heartfelt THANK YOU to all our valued clients. Every shoot held highlights for us, too many to mention, but here are a few short videos to share a glimpse and to spark ideas for you to promote your products and services in compelling ways.

To start with, our Aerial Videography Showreel incorporates some of the stunning properties that we’ve filmed and photographed:

A few of these showcase the exceptional work of Rouan Theart at LTA Architects, such as this super cool restaurant in Paarl:

We loved creating a series of videos for Cape Aqua, to help promote their bottled spring water, one of the purest on the market:

It was a ton of fun to capture unique, high vibe exercise classes for DS Bungee Fitness, featuring their fabulous team and studio:

We were privileged to film the R/V Roger Revelle departing from Cape Town for Scripps Institute of Oceanography at UC San Diego:

And closer to home, we’ve been capturing the impressive progress of construction here at the visionary Devonbosch development where our studio is based. Stay tuned for our time lapse video on completion, but here’s a taste of building in progress:

In addition to many other wonderful shoots, we had the great pleasure of creating a special portfolio of images and videos for Knysna Tourism. The feature pic at the top of this post was taken on a sunrise shoot there. Watch this space for more about that!

Stepping into 2024, we’re filled with anticipation as new adventures beckon. To all our clients, associates, family, friends and fellow adventurers out there, here’s to a fantastic 2024. Let’s make it an amazing year to remember – one frame at a time.

Rudolph de Wet - Head of Production at OV&P

Our Team is Growing

Warm welcome to our new Head of Production, Rudolph de Wet! He brings valuable skills, expertise and experience to OV&P, spanning a range of genres and incorporating photography, videography, film making and editing. We took the above pic of him at the visionary Devonbosch development near Stellenbosch, where our studio is based.

As you can see, he’s geared to shoot with one of our Nikon cameras mounted on the DJI Ronin gimbal, which is a special piece of tech, particularly for capturing action footage and subjects like event content and real estate walk-throughs, super smoothly. Rudolph lives life to the full, embracing new opportunities along the way. He started out studying health and safety and going overseas. In the USA, he found himself in the position to assist in a big film production doing the work and research, and knew this was for him.

He studied a year of photography, then two years of film, TV and video production, before establishing his career as a photographer, videographer and editor. Rudolph weaves his unique and creative style into each frame, whether behind the lens capturing breathtaking moments or immersed at his editing desk. He thrives on bringing visions to life and had an absolute blast working with TV series and talented singers, among other exciting things.

The diversity of his projects has allowed Rudolph to refine his skills across various genres and styles. From capturing the raw emotions on set to adding that magical touch in post-production, he’s always wholeheartedly dedicated to delivering top-notch results. He loves venturing into new creative territories and collaborating with individuals from various industries. Every project brings fresh inspiration and opportunities to push boundaries.

Aside from work, Rudolph finds solace in outdoor adventures, especially mountain biking. We’re delighted to have him on board and look forward to plenty of great shoots and adventures together!
