We had lots of fun at the Authentic Women’s Day Celebration hosted by Mareli Scott, who is an entrepreneur, global networker, speaker, authenticity authority and radio host. She had invited Naomi to present her Rock That Camera session for the lovely audience of ladies at The Graft Yard. Not far from our OV&P Studio, this versatile venue is based in the Heathway Centre near Cresta. It provides flexible, cost-effective workspace, boardroom hire and venue hire for small business owners aiming towards bigger goals. We had a warm, early morning welcome by Kirsten Kairuz, Co-Owner & Director of The Graft Yard, not hesitating a second to roll up sleeves and help prepare the venue for the arrival of the guests.
Before long the place was buzzing with a dynamic network of ladies mingling in conversation and snapping group “selfies” before proceedings began. Special credit to Mareli for her vision and follow through in gathering an exceptional group together for this inspiring event. After welcoming everyone, she introduced recently crowned Mrs Commonwealth SA 2nd Princess, Lizelle Kachelhoffer, who went on to share the moving personal story of her challenging journey. This was an eye opener for many as she continues to hold her head high, contributing significantly to the welfare of others.
Nicky Coleman gave us insight into her NPO, The Gift of Joy, which is all about “bringing Joy to those who Give and those who Receive”. In the collage above, you can see her fabulous table display of toys collected during the event, which were destined to bring smiles to plenty of faces. Then talented Mpume Mavundla, gospel recording artist who was nominated for best songwriter of the year from Mzansi Gospel Awards, treated us all to her amazing voice in song. During her session, Naomi shared her Confidence on Camera nuggets about how to feel fabulously confident in photos and videos, with a view to effectively promoting your company or career, while creating a legacy you love.
It can be easy to forget the impact that even a single transformational photo can have for so many women and it was deeply rewarding to see this in action as Naomi photographed each lady in turn, providing them with a wonderful and welcome new profile pic. We love what Mareli is doing and it was so inspiring to hear her story of how far she has come in creating a platform for many to show their authentic selves to the world. Thank you Mareli for inviting us to be part of your event, and for the opportunity to participate in nudging these beautiful ladies into their next “authentic leap”.
What better time than Women’s Day to do that!
